Nancy L. Choate practices exclusively in the areas of Estate Planning, Elder Law, Trust and Probate Administration, Asset Protection, Business Planning, and Special Needs Planning. She employs a personalized approach to providing legal advice, and she strives to provide a comfortable environment for her clients. Each client is different and requires her to be good listeners, as well as creative, to determine the best plan for them. Nancy focuses on understanding the objectives of each client and serves as a guide to them as they navigate financial, healthcare and estate planning. Nancy L. Choate, Attorney
Nancy obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1987. She is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, (Elder Law, Estate Planning, and Probate sections), National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), Academy of Special Needs Planners (ASNP) and the Madison County Bar Association. Nancy is also a Jackson Symphony Board Member and a University of Tennessee at Martin Alumni Board member. Nancy has received a Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating of AV Preeminent from her fellow lawyers. She is also a Master of the American Inn of Court, Jackson, Tennessee chapter, a legal mentoring organization dedicated to achieving higher levels of excellence and furthering the practice of law with dignity and integrity. Nancy is a frequent speaker on the subject of Estate Planning and Probate and Elder Law to senior adults and other select groups as well as business and financial professionals.
Nancy makes her clients feel comfortable by offering a personal analysis of their individual situation and goals. She is able to create documents to meet the personal needs of the client in a timely manner. Clients often express appreciation in Mrs. Choate’s ability to explain legal terms in “plain English” and to offer legal advice on complicated issues in a clear understandable manner. They also value the common central location of her office.
Nancy and her family reside in Jackson where she is active in the community. Her community involvement includes:

Nancy and her husband of over 40 years, Curtis, are active members of the Jackson Community. Curtis, a recently retired teacher, now serves as office manager for the law firm. They have two children, Anna, a graduate of Union University who now lives in Louisville, Kentucky, and Will, a graduate of Union University and the University of Tennessee School of Law who is employed as a Research Services and Instructional Law Librarian at Chicago Kent School of Law and lives in Chicago, Illinois. Curtis and Nancy enjoy traveling with their children and grandchildren as well as supporting the performing arts.

Angela Snider, Of Counsel Attorney
Angela Snider is a lifelong resident of Madison County and graduate of Jackson Central-Merry High School, Lambuth University, and The University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Karl, for 28 years. They have a daughter Kaylee who is a senior at Samford University, and a son Cole who is a sophomore at Trinity Christian Academy. Their family also includes Lydia Brown, who is pursuing her Masters Degree at University of Memphis and Atlas McCready, who is in kindergarten at Denmark Elementary School.

Curtis is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin. He was a band director for 30 years before joining The Law Office of Nancy L. Choate, P.C. as office manager. In addition, he also assists clients in the Medicaid application process. His favorite part of his job is meeting our clients and learning their life stories. Outside of work, Curtis enjoys fishing, traveling and most of all being “Papa” to his two granddaughters.

Amber is a graduate of Union University (Summa Cum Laude) and has been working as Nancy’s legal assistant since August 2021. Her favorite part of her role is drafting wills and trusts, which allows her to take part in the estate planning process and help clients gain peace of mind. In her free time, Amber enjoys reading biographies, perfecting her breadmaking skills, and spending time with her husband, Daniel and her daughter, Theadora.

Kara was born and raised in Jackson, Tennessee. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from The University of Memphis. She has worked with Nancy since 2021 and enjoys her role of handling probates, trust funding, creating LLCs, and her personal favorite, client interaction. When Kara is not in the office, you can find her at the river with her husband, Trey, and their rambunctious German Shepard, Maverick, or watching Tennessee football with her family.

Kathryn moved to Jackson from Chattanooga in December of 2024. She is a graduate of Samford University with a degree in Human Development and Family Sciences and has worked with Nancy since February 2025. She serves as our client relations representative and enjoys meeting our clients and assisting them with intake and scheduling appointments. Outside of the office, Kathryn likes to cook, go to the gym, and watch tv with her fiancé, Daniel, and their cat, Stormy.

A dedicated professional with over 40 years of legal experience, Mitiz is a graduate of Union University, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership. She is a certified paralegal, and as a proud member of National Association of Legal Assistants. Outside of her career, she is happily married to Albert Merriweather, Sr., the proud mother to Kayla, Kelsea, Karen, and A.J. (Quesha), and delighted to be “MiMe” to her first grandchild, Ollyn Noor. Out of the office, she enjoys volunteering, working in her flower bed, reading, and catching up on her Westerns.
